A Life Changing Trip

Traveling to Romania the summer of 2009 was an experience that changed our hearts and minds forever. It will never be forgotten. We didn’t realize how much we would fall in love with kids we had just met. The reality was that it’s impossible not to fall in love with them, with all the hugs we received and the smiling faces we saw everyday.

We went into this trip expecting to help others and make a difference in their lives. What we didn’t realize was that they would be making a difference in our lives as well. The smiles and attitudes of these children, regardless of how little they had, taught us that it’s not what you have or don’t have in life. The experiences that you share with others are what matter most.

Every minute we spent with the kids was filled with laughter and love, until the last day, when it was time for goodbyes. We simply had no idea how difficult it would be to say goodbye to kids that we had met just a few days earlier. We know that it is in our hearts to go back and hope that we have another opportunity to see the smiling faces that we miss so much.
