Buckner Group Home "Finally a Family"

Thanks be to God! In April of 2011 the Buckner Group Home was opened for 8 orphaned children in the city of Targu Mures, Romania. This home is a very special place for the 8 young ladies. After living in less than desirable conditions in institutional housing for most of their lives. The girls, who range in age from 12 to 17, finally get a chance to live in an environment which is conducive to nurturing. Another advantage these girls will have is the family atmosphere within the home.

A prime example of this was the girls first Christmas in the home. For most of these girls it was their first Christmas celebration with people they could call family. For years, these girls have not had the foundation of a family in their lives. Now they have that opportunity to give thanks to many donors who have stepped up to the plate and delivered a "home" run for these beautiful girls.

The programs within the home are managed by the staff of Buckner Romania. The home has house parents (Mircea & Liliana Stoiciu) along with their 2 children along with a full-time tutor (Orsi Csaszar) who assist the girls with their homework along with learning the life skills needed to be productive young ladies in their community and school. Mircea & Liliana play very important roles as house parents. From shopping for 12 people, preparing the meals, and teaching the girls how to manage a household they have their hands full of responsibility.

The most important role they play is as models for what Christian parents and their family should represent to the world and for God. Having these girls witness how a normal family acts and responds to difficulties, sorrows, and joys is vital to the success of the program. Prayers and supporters for these children are still needed.
